Inspections



Permits will be issued Monday through Friday between the hours of 
9:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M.

 

Applications may be downloaded from the tabs below:

  • Zoning Applications can be obtained from the Planning and Zoning Department page.  Please review checklists under each tab below to ensure you have all necessary documents to obtain permits before submitting to the inspections department.
  • All fees are non-refundable and must be paid by check or cash only. Checks should be made payable to Hertford County.
  • Please call or email our office should you have any questions or concerns.

 

Who can sign/apply for permits?

  • Must be a NC Licensed Contractor (provide copy of license)

    OR

  • Must be a W2 employee and provide a signed letter from the licensed contractor giving authorization to sign/pay for permits on their behalf.
  • Homeowner: must provide proof of ownership
    • Confirmation of Land Owner: if homeowner & landowner are different, a notarized permission letter from the land owner(s) is required.
    • Properties with more than one owner/heir, must provide a signed letter by each owner giving permission and acknowledgment.
  • Rental Property (or you do not plan to live in for 12 months or longer): NC licensed contractors ONLY (provide copy of license)
  • If project cost exceeds $30,000 work must be completed by a NC Licensed Contractor.
