CADA Receives CARES COVID-19 Economic Impact Funds for Families
CADA has received funds from the federal CARES Act to assist families economically impacted by COVID-19. This program is federally funded by a supplemental Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) CARES from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families to NC Department of Health and Human Services/Division of Social Services, which allocated the funds to Community Action Agencies in North Carolina such as CADA.
The purpose of this funding is to provide emergency assistance to families of both employed workers and the self-employed who due to the Health Emergency have lost family income.
This program is different from other emergency assistance programs that CADA has
Administered. First, the program is for emergencies created by COVID-19. Secondly,
the program assists families at 200% of federal poverty guidelines by family size as
explained below:
200 Percent of Poverty Income Guidelines by Family Size 2020 – 2022 Poverty Guidelines for the 48 Contiguous States and The District of Columbia |

For families/households with more than 8 persons, add $8,960 for each additional person. |

The third difference is the way income is calculated thus making more people eligible due
to the health emergency. The family/household income for the past 30 days will be used to
calculate the family/household income for qualification. Many families have lost income.
If a family has a COVID-19 related emergency, meets the income guideline for family size,
and needs to apply for assistance, visit the CADA Website- www.nc-cada.org
